America 2100 Poll: Bipartisan Majority Of Americans Support Tiktok Divestment Bill 

Even majority of TikTok users favor bill passed by House and awaiting fate in Senate

Arlington, VA – A new poll, conducted by Public Opinion Strategies and released by America 2100, reveals the majority of Americans support legislation currently before Congress that would force TikTok to divest itself from Chinese Communist Party control. The poll reveals strong majorities of Republicans, Democrats and Independents support the legislation. The polling underscores political peril for Senate Democrats who now stand in the way of the legislation which passed overwhelmingly in the House.

“Americans see China for the threat that it is, and they don’t want their social media apps controlled by a hostile foreign adversary,” said America 2100 Senior Advisor Nate Hochman. “Chuck Schumer and Senate Democrats will have to choose between placating a loud, left-wing, TikTok-addicted activist base, and the American majority that wants the Chinese Communist Party out of our tech platforms — and our country.”

Among the poll’s findings:

• 68% of Americans support legislation that would force the Chinese Communist Party controlled Bytedance to sell their stake in TikTok. 
• 73% of Republicans, 64% of Democrats, and 65% of Independents support the divestment bill, with similar levels of support among 2020 Trump voters (75% favor) and 2020 Biden voters (67% favor).
• Even a majority of TikTok users, 56%, support the TikTok divestment bill passed by the House and an equal number of young voters aged 18-34, 56%, support the TikTok divestment bill.
• A whopping 84% of Americans know that TikTok is owned by a Chinese company and 73% say that TikTok being owned by China is concerning, including 46% who say it is extremely or very concerning.
